"and I own it" performance

Join us at gofod for a performance from actor Russell Gomer (Stella, High Hopes) written by dramatist Ian Rowlands. 

And I Own It is a fascinating, funny and intriguing monologue about obsession and desire. 

“From the moment I saw you,
I knew,
I didn't need you,
I could've lived my life without you,
I wouldn't ever have missed you,
Something would've hung on my wall, if it wasn't you.
But the desire:
So consuming:
Drove me to possess you,
So I bought you,
Paid less than your worth,
And after,
I felt as if I'd just stolen God.”

In And I Own It Rowland shares a few tales about paintings that he has owned, and the problems of owning them “…whatever owning anything means.” 

Russ Gomer
Russ trained at The Welsh College of Music and Drama which, alas, obtained the royal charter only after he’d left. Dammit! He was a founder member of the much acclaimed Fiction Factory Theatre Co. which toured the plays of Ed Thomas throughout Europe and UK. They ‘flew the flag’ for Wales for two consecutive years at The Royal Court. He has appeared in several productions for The R.S.C. and was an associate of Wales Theatre Co. performing under the directorship of the hugely respected Michael Bogdanov, in many large productions. T.V. credits include High Hopes; Not Getting Any; Tree On A Hill; Holby City and six series as, the troubled, hippy sex-god, Yanto Bead in Stella for Sky One.

Ian Rowlands
Ian Rowlands is a Carmarthen based TV director. He began his career in theatre and led four theatre companies including Bara Caws and the old Cwmni Theatr Gwynedd. He is also an award winning playwright with over fifteen plays to his name and has written drama for both Radio 4 and Radio Cymru: including a forthcoming Welsh adaptation of '"... And I Own It". In relation to Art, he is a collector, was at one time a member of the Wales in Venice Biennale Committee and has judged the Gold Medal at the National Eisteddfod.
