gofod: a new space at Wright's
Join us for the opening of gofod - a new space at Wright’s that celebrates local talent and communities through exhibitions, workshops, events and more.

First Exhibition
Our first artist spotlight showcases Sarah Lees and Gareth Hugh Davies, two artists renowned for their strong visual identities. Through their distinctive practices, they have established a significant presence in galleries throughout Wales, the UK and beyond. Despite their contrasting creative approaches, a key theme that unifies their work is their devotion to the land, their ‘common ground’.

From opposite ends of their shared studio in Milo, Sarah and Gareth share a sensitive understanding of the Welsh landscape, in particular, the Towy Valley.
“Carmarthenshire, specifically the Towy Valley, has a particular relevance as it’s my home. For example I see the hedges around Llangathen as a microcosm, representing a small glimpse into a much larger world: their existential struggle, universal.” - Sarah Lees
Showcasing both artists’ evolving practices, this exhibition brings together new and earlier works. From the 2nd of July until the 2nd of August, Thursday - Sunday 10am-3pm, we invite you to join us in exploring the differences in their individual perspectives but also the overlapping that exists at the intersections of their work.
Open Evening, 4th of July, 7pm-9pm, gofod [Wright’s] - All Welcome.
Curatorial: Megan Evans

Sarah Lees a Gareth Hugh Davies sy’n agor ac yn serennu’r gofod ym mis Orffennaf. Dau artist gydag arddulliau nodedig a delweddau cryf sydd wedi llwyddo i ddatblygu presenoldeb arwyddocaol ledled Cymru, ar draws y Deyrnas Unedig a thu hwnt. Er eu prosesau creadigol cyferbyniol, y brif elfen sydd yn uno gwaith y ddau yw eu perthynas dwys gyda’u cynefin, eu ‘tir cyffredin’.
“Mae’r gyfres o baentiadau yn ganlyniad gwaith a wnaed ar leoliad ac yn y stiwdio. Mae popeth yn dechrau gyda darlunio, a chofio. Maent yn dechrau fel ymateb ar unwaith i dirwedd benodol, ond gallant drawsnewid gydag ail-weithio ac ail-archwilio parhaus i’r graddau bod pryderon topograffig yn dod yn eilradd, a chaniateir i ymateb gweledol mwy personol ddatblygu.” - Gareth Hugh Davies
O ochrau gwrthgyferbyniol eu stiwdio yn Milo, mae Sarah a Gareth yn rhannu cysyniadau tebyg a dealltwriaeth sensitif o dirwedd Cymru ac yn fwy penodol, y Dyffryn Tywi. Mae’r arddangosfa yma yn ddathliad o esblygiad yr artistiaid wrth gyflwyno detholiad o waith newydd sbon yn ogystal â gweithiau cynharach.
O Orffennaf yr 2il tan yr 2il o Awst, Dydd Iau - Dydd Sul 10yb-3yh, fe archwiliwn safbwyntiau unigol y ddau artist ynghyd â’r gorgyffyrddiadau sy’n bodoli rhwng eu gweithiau.
Noson Agored, 4ydd o Orffennaf, 7yh-9yh, gofod [Wright’s] - Dewch yn llu.
