Domaine Bories Jefferies – La Pierre De Sisyphe (2017) by Joseph Jefferies
Terret Blanc & Gris, Marsanne, Grenache Blanc from Languedoc

This is a southern white that's not seen much anymore. The grape varieties are indigenous to the area and grow on soils from old lava flow, rich in basalt.

Very much unfiltered, the lees in the bottle have kept the wine incredibly fresh, with lots of herbal fruit and savoury notes. In this vintage Joe put all of his white grapes into this wine.

Excellent to pair with pork belly.

La Lunotte – Eau Nice (2018) by Christophe Foucher
Pineau d'Aunis from Couffy, Loire

Pineau d'Aunis is a rare variety that is indigenous to the Loire. Apparently a favourite of English King Henry Plantagenet!

Sadly hard to grow, so it's not valued commercially but small growers prize it's wonderful aromatics.

This is the first vintage Christophe has been able to make with this variety and he's handled it impeccably.

Hauntingly elegant light fruit, if you want a comparison it's somewhere between Pinot Noir and Gamay with a white pepper finish that is completely unique.

Rue Des Belles Caves Les Palennes (2017) by Francois Saint-Lo
Cabernet Franc from Berrie, Loire

Sixty year old vines of Cabernet Franc on stony soil. I really love the balance of fruit and structure on this wine.

It will go very well with a meal but can easily be enjoyed on it's own.
