In 2021 Julien lost 90% of the fruit on his own vineyard to a mixture of frost, mildew and hail (in August). In order for his business to survive he had to buy fruit, travelling to a friend in Provence with his harvest team and picking Cinsault a varetal he was familiar with from when he worked out there. He gave the grapes 7 days on the skins with very little extraction, creating a wine that is rounded, elegant and long but not at all heavy.
